This post is for all those who attended and those who couldn't make it to Texas.
(I have attached several interesting pictures and one is of Charlie Boswell a Pearl Harbor Survivor Vet who showed up.) Then another pic shows the girls being taught the popular dance in Texas, The Cuban Shuffle I believe Sandy called it that! Anyway they did it and how neat that was!)
Reunion Dallas 2011 has come and gone. I look forward to the reunion like Christmas, a birthday party for someone special, (not my own any more) a long vacation, or a special event in my career, I plan for it, make all the arrangements, you go to it, AND BOOM!! It's over, done, gone, now I have to wait for the next one.
Some arrived Wednesday early to late, getting a feeling for the hotel. But soon when they found the hospitality room that's when things really get interesting! I met guys I haven't seen in 50 years plus, how amazing is that.
The history of Waller books & pictures were all unloaded and set up in the hospitality room and were ready to go, just waiting for the fresh new & old stories to be told. And believe me they were told! I cooked a Texas Brisket so there was plenty of food to eat and the drinks never ran out!!!!!
As the crew of the Waller & guests arrived and said their hellos we all got comfortable with seeing each other again.
Thursday morning we were off to see Dallas with a terrific guide that took us all over Dallas. I even learned things about Dallas I didn't know. Don't tell Sandy, she thinks I know everything.
Friday day was a go out on your own day, some went to the Dallas aquarium and some to the State Fair.
I took Jim Klock & Wes Thornton to my Armadilla bar I own in DeSoto, TX for a look see.
Friday evening a great meal was had by all in thatexpensive ballroom. (Sandy & I had to book it based on the amount of people we expected to show up back in early 2010) A high cost I couldn't get lowered............
Dinners were served to the tables which were set for eight and had nice white table cloths and all the necessary place settings. Friday was the day for the dinner banquet.
And a lot of us were all waiting for, the Ft.Worth Tour on Saturday. We had an excellent tour lady who never stopped telling us all the interesting places as we passed them on the bus, going by Cowboy stadium, we won't talk about them and the Rangers Ball Park, go Rangers, Marlyn Coffman was real excited about that. Arriving in Cowtown at the Stockyards was a blast, we watched the cattle drive go up the street with Longhorns & Cowboys - the real cowboys -!! And lots of us bought all kinds of things in the stores there, just ask Wes Thornton because his wife Sue got into the silver factory! HA
Then off to the rodeo after we all had dinner in Ft. Worth's Sundance Square. Well 4 of them stayed in the stockyard for dinner there.
Wish I would have also as the Rib place was better than anything in Sundance Sq.! The officials at the Rodeo were told of the Waller Crew in the Arena and we got a STANDING OVATION from the crowd. How nice that was!!!!!! As the bus traveled from Ft. Worth back to the hotel we watched fire works go off at Ranger Stadium as the Rangers hit a home run in St. Louis, how cool is that!
However, they are 2 games each right now. Sandy is from Missouri and she says this is a win, win for her, she loves both teams. I'm for football and basketball - Period! Ha
